May we “show that the awakening of a wider ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgement and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world. For only when we hear the languages of other beings are we capable of understanding the generosity of the earth, and learning to give our own gifts in return.” — From Braiding Sweetgrass
Herbalism is a central part of our vision. The goal is to steward and tend the land in a way that supports the flourishing of a living repository of medicinal plants. A critical piece of this is to honor and seek permission and reparations from the Coast Salish Peoples, whose land we are inhabiting. We are also dedicated to prioritizing the support and platform for Indigenous teachers and healers, in the best way that suits them. We feel blessed to share a well integrated approach to herbalism, blending the modern science of botany with the ancient knowledge of indigenous people. To that end we will teach:
- ethical harvesting
- plant processing
- medicine making
- psycho-spiritual plant medicine
…through hands on workshops, monthly member newsletter, and special events.
We also hope to create a grassroots, donation-based, community APOTHECARY dedicated to education, empowerment, collaboration, and health!
Note: We have chosen to seek formal permission from the Coast Salish tribes to ethically harvest wild plants on the land. Only when this permission is given will harvesting occur.
